Stunning picture from a “Rock the Dress” shoot. This shot was (obviously) shot in the rain :( This makes me want to coordinate a shoot like this with my wedding photographer just to get a similar “Notebook”-esque image!! beautiful!

I love the idea of a centerpiece like this, although I would use a gold branch with white/canary yellow florals.

As some of you might know, I started this blog after my best friend asked me to be her maid of honor. Today, July 2, 2011, my best friend Brooke Josserand married HER best friend Steven Schrieber and it was absolutely GORGEOUS.

I just got back from all of the festivities but I felt bad that I’ve been so inactive and busy lately so I wanted to give everyone a quick update.

Last night’s rehearsal went flawlessly. I was a little nervous because it my first time as MOH. Also, Brooke asked me to sing at the ceremony so I had to practice that (always nerve-wracking!) After lots of decorating, the bridesmaids all went to a hotel and relaxed in the jacuzzi with a bottle of sparkling wine to calm any wedding-day-eve jitters.

The next day (today/the day of the wedding) went by like a blur! It started with me doing all of the bridesmaid’s hair (although I did have a little help!). I curled pretty much everyone’s hair, the bride’s was…an ordeal to say the least. We both were getting nervous but after we did our make up, grabbed some lunch and got over to the church, things seem to be winding down a little.

All of the sudden, Brooke (the bride) had a bit of a hair-breakdown. She felt unattractive and she hated her hair and although we tried to encourage her, it was just one of those things where we had to give her a minute.

When she finally convinced herself that she was beautiful (which SHE WAS!!), things turned for the best again and the ceremony began!

Walking down the aisle was an awesome experience for me. I was nervous I was walking too slow or too fast and I was a little wobbly in my gorgeous gold pumps, but I thought overall we all worked it (lol). But the real showstopper was Brooke’s entrance with her father.

A while back, I posted an alternative song to walk down the aisle to (find the song here). Brooke immediately fell in love with the version of the song and took my suggestion to use it as her entrance. When the doors opened to reveal her in her gorgeous white gown and veil led by her father, and the music swelled as they began their descent down the aisle, it was NOTHING SHORT OF BREATHTAKING. I instantly welled up with tears.

A few other teary moments was when Brooke & Steven were exchanging vows and Steven began to cry, which of course led me to cry as well as Brooke and most of the audience. It was just so romantic, honest, and sweet!

After the ceremony was finished, the couple walked up the aisle and out of the church to “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap—which summed up everyone’s happy feelings perfectly! I was next to walk down the aisle and out of the church, along with my boyfriend who came up to lead me (he was an usher).

Another awesome moment for me was signing the marriage certificate as a witness! That was definitely an important memory for me.

After pictures, ecetera, we made our way to the reception hall, which was a Floridian-Spanish style building with beautiful dark wood rafters and a fireplace by the dancefloor. It was decorated with wildflowers on each table and touches of blue lighting, the wedding color (color of our bridesmaid dresses, accents, etc.).

Everything from the food to the music to the dancing was SENSATIONAL. It was for sure the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding! Everything was effortless, fun, nothing was boring, and people were just enjoying themselves.

Other than that, there’s not much more I can say. I’m so tired from the entire event, happy for the couple, proud to have been a part of it all, and excited for their future (and hopefully mine someday soon).

I’ll try to post pictures and an advice piece about all the things I learned as soon as possible :)
